Fight Sequence (2021)
Costumes, Production Designer
I collaborated with some fellow students who wanted to excercise their camera skills by shooting a short tekken inspired fight sequence so I assisted them in costuming and designed some tekken style fighting arenas based on the characters I have designed. These plans were never to be used due to budgets but I used as an excercise to better my Sketchup Skills and creativity.

I did alot of research into colour schemes and what emotions different colours evoke in an audience when designing for this project. I also took obvious inspiration from the games Tekken and Mortal Kombat as well as comic book characters. I wanted to blend an authentic feeling Tekken style of our source material with a much more dystopian brutal aesthetic. This was not only to make it slightly more unique but additionally more feasible for budgets and settings.
Arenas

Scrapheap Steve's Arena
Scrapheap Steve's arena was designed to contrast the spiritual elegant themes of Angelica's character and arena. I chose to take inspiration from a real location in Bristol, an abandoned car graveyard and a park and cafe featuring disused cars and rides. This dystopian, run down aesthetic felt appropriate for his character.

Angelica's Arena
Angelica's arena was designed to suit her mystical energy themed costume of flowing fabrics in purple tones. I wanted to carry this mystical theme through into my sketches by taking inspiration from gardens featured on the Royal Chelsea Garden Show and emphasising a connection to nature. In order to do this I designed a transparent glass dome lined with diffused neon purple lights. The glass would allow the nature of the surrounding forest to still be a included in the enviroment. As you can see from this mood board the ground of the dome was largely inspired by the minimalist sand zen gardens (karesansui's) to continue the spiritual aesthetic. It is surrounded by a moat of water inside of the dome as incorporating a flowing body of water reflects the free flowing movement that I have tried to include in Angelica's costume to emphasise the spiritual and natural elements.
